Alaska Day 4

Excerpt from my journal (for my blog book)
Wed June 15
Today we got out of bed at 6:30 am and watched out of our balcony as we slowly sailed through TracyArm Forjd Glacier . OH my gosh!!!! It was so amazing. I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was and how blue the ice was. It doesn’t have any oxygen in it and so because it is so dense we see the color as blue when the sun hits it. When the sun hits the snow or ice that does have oxygen then it shows all of the colors so we just see white. That is what the narration things said, I don’t know if I got that all right but I thnk so anyway.  We got some great pictures. It was just incredible. Then we got dressed, went for breakfast and watched out the windows as we moved out of the passageway. We arrived in Juneau at around 2:00 and Brad, Suzette and Layton and I went on a short bus ride to the float plane company called “Wings”. There were 10 people including us on the plane and there were 3 other planes with the same. We boarded and they flew us up to Tuku Lake Lodge. OH MY GOSH!!!!!! The first things that greeted us were 2 bears. There was one up in the tree and another on the back side of a building/lodge. There were other people up there and a couple of the workers out there keeping an eye on the bears and the customers. It was just the most amazing thing ever! We got great pictures! Layton isn’t a salmon eater but the dinner was a smoked on the grilled salmon, coleslaw, baked beans, biscuits and apples w/cinnamon. We all loved it so much, even Layton. It was fresh caught and cooked right then and there, just like camping over an open fire. When we were eating, the bear came up and licked on the grill to get whatever drippings she could find. I mean, I just can’t believe we were there and everything was so amazing. It was an experience of a lifetime and I don’t take one minute of it for granted! I was just so mesmerized by the beauty and grandure of the scenery and then with the real live bears there and the delicious meal and all. It was such a fabulous day, I can’t even begin to express it all.  When we got back to town, we walked around some and then came back to the boat. I am just so blessed to have this experience that I can’t thank my Father in Heaven even enough. Tomorrow we will go get off the ship in Skagway and take the train up the mountain .... can’t wait....

Mom, you are such a good twinner with bear statues. Good job. I love all the pics!! It seems like it was just breathtaking! I am jealous. And I also love the one of dad playing ping pong. The guy he is challenging looks like a ninja ping pong warrior. I bet dad gave it a good effort.
