With Cami, Brett, Laci, and Sam all ahead of Sara, we have been through a Prom Night event many, many times. Eleven years ago we started buying or renting or borrowing Prom Dresses. We have a closet full of dresses now and have lent out many dresses to girls in dire need over the years so that THEIR own mothers wouldn't need to lay out a fortune for the Prom. (Heaven forbid anyone wear a dress twice or use one of their own sisters dress', unheard of!)
I can't believe that I will never have to buy another prom dress for the rest of my days...wow!
I will miss the excitement of Prom. The Thrill of the nails, hair, makeup, shoes, tanning, jewlery, and yes even the paying for the ever endless search for the perfect dress.
Alas, Layton and I will be sitting in our little chairs at home next year and for the years to come watching the limos drive past our house to pick up dates on prom night and smiling as fathers and mothers follow their children out to the curb to wave goodbye to their little darlings, all the while, rocking in our chairs and sipping our warm milk with a comfy blanky wrapped about out feeble knees. Yes, we will be smiling with memories of days gone by, knowing that we have had our turn and now we must somehow carry on. Why would we be smiling at such a loney time as this you ask?
Well, I will tell you.
Because although we will miss the thrill of the ever imposing "Biggest Dance of the Year, Stop Everything and Focus on me Night", we will crawl into bed on Prom night from now on knowing that we are hundreds of dollars richer!
ahhh, Bitter sweet!
