9 Grand , that is the amount that the Rotary Club raised tonight! What a gift we have been given!
I am so proud of Layton and the club members for the efforts they made to raise that kind of money! When Layton set a goal of 10,000 for this year's charity auction, it seemed a goal so lofty that it wasn't even close to being attainable! Well, we didn't quit reach the mark but the 9,000.00 is pretty darn close! We totally set a record for the most money raised by this club, ever! With only a cub membership of around 30 people, this feat is amazing. Everyone was asked to invite another couple which put our total to around 75. We nearly reached 10,000 with only 75 people invited to attend! You can do the math!
If you are not familiar with Rotary, you should look it up! It is a wonderful service club that donates 100% of the money raised to put back into the communities around the world. They donate their time, talents and services in their communities to relieve the poor, suffering or helpless. It takes some time and effort to be a member of this group because you must serve. It is not a lunch club! It is a Worldwide Organization that is operated by small community clubs in most every town or city around the world.
To represent some of the people being helped by our club, a sweet girl spoke who is using the Family Connection Center right now. She was so brave to speak to all of us but so grateful that she will be able to give her children some Christmas presents because of the Sub for Santa Program that the Rotary Donates generously to each year. The club will be donating dictionaries to "high risk" schools in the state as well once again this year. Another girl spoke about her service trip to India which had Rotary as one of her sponsers also. She was so grateful for the chance to serve there and told about her experiences.
It's truly amazing how generous people can be even in these sad, scarey times.

This evening reassurred me that love and kindness and generousity are still the gifts that mean the most to people even/or especially in today's world!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to all of the WONDERFUL people who donated to this cause either through items given to be bid on or through their wallets!
