Yellow Submarines and Discarded Farris Wheels....

No we don't really live in a Yellow Submarine even though I have the Beatles on my mind for Girls Camp. That's Unusual!
We are still working on the front yard and the inside front foyer. Laci want's to see some pictures so here are a few so far. The outside is almost done and the inside is almost done as well. We took out a wall and cut out 2 window areas to let the light into the rest of the house and all of the electrical, sheet rock, tile and painting still have to be done. GEE, doesn't seem almost done to me! Luckily guys are coming tomorrow to work again on it all! I, however will be packing and getting ready to go to Florida with the fam! We will just have to let them finish after the 14th of July! wahooee!

I was pouting as I was walking out of the nursery last week, still not able to find what I was looking for to hang on the long blank wall outside leading up to the front door and as I looked to my left, there it was! A "ferris wheel flower basket standing thingy" that stood on a post and actually spinned if you held on to it just right! Some very skilled person had made this planter and knew what it's possibilities were for beauty and joy but, alas, it was broken. Similar to Charlie Brown's Christmas Tree, the giant outdoor planter was leaning and if it would have had a face it would have been frowning for sure. It was huge, dirty and pitiful and no one walking past even gave it a second look. It faded into the background or occasionally heard a comment such as, how ugly or well, that's an odd thing, who would buy that? BUT NOT ME! I saw it for what it could be! YES, I exclaimed! There it is!!!! I couldn't get over to the side of the building fast enough and to my surprise it had an "AS IS" price tag dangling on a basket. Oh, the poor thing! I"LL TAKE IT! Where do I get some help to put this in my car? "So, you want the farris wheel huh? You are really gonna take it?", the merchant asked me. Funny, I thought,...lucky for me he could only see the dings, dirt and leaning ackward stand and 6 empty flower baskets that were suppose to go for a ride when the wind kicks up to a high knot when placed in someones garden or outback on the farm. "Yep I said! I bought it , it's mine!" "And acutually, could you please take it off of the stand and fill free to toss it in your dumpster, I won't be needing it at all." The man just laughed at me, surely he thought I was insane. I couldn't wait to get it home! At home I unscrewed the baskets and neatly put them in storage and with a little, or alot, of help from Layton who was now beginning to see the method of my madness, we elevated the iron wheel and hung up our new outdoor decor for the entrance wall. Do you think it added beauty? I love it! I think it was made just for that wall. How many times have I heard already, Where did you get that? I love it! It's so beautiful! It's perfect!
And there you have it. The story of the "Charlie Brown" Outdoor Wall Decor!
I find it interesting that when I am looking for something, when I know what I want, when I am focused and have a purpose for my searching, I always seem to be able to see things in a new light. I wonder if that is the way Heavenly Father sees us? All of us. He very skillfully made each one of us and knew what our possibilities would be for beauty and joy. Maybe we should look harder to see what He sees in all of us so that when things seem so bleak or pitiful, we will take courage and know that we have a purpose, and we can elevate ourselves and others to a higher sphere, out of the dirty, grim world, even when others ignore us or want to toss us out . hum.
Yellow Submarines and old flowering ferris wheels......unusual...
One of my favorite things to do is to find a purpose for unsual things discarded.
